When visiting a Borders store I have encountered a UI deficiency of the kind that I have never seen before:

Current Mood: amused amused

The fourth option on that screen should be 'FIND A TOUCH SCREEN MONITOR' = P.

Honestly, though, I can see that the manufacturers of the monitor have no idea what their monitors are going to be used for or where they're going (for the most part). What I want to know is the person who decided to load a bit of software that requires a touch screen and put it with a monitor that's not a touchscreen... I'm guessing it was probably a store manager or something that told one of their lackeys to just throw the box out on to the store floor with a functioning monitor with 0 forethought into the matter.

Er, hang on, let me get this righteous corncob stuck up my ass out...

So... how have things been since you moved out there?

It was kina my point that the it is ridiculous to expect that a label "THIS IS NOT A TOUCH SCREEN" is a valid solution to the problem when the software tells the user that it is.

I am fine, mostly doing embedded systems and Linux kernel devlopment.

Yeah, it is just plain silly, but I was trying to think of what went wrong and where in the process, ie, pointy-hair boss type not really thinking through about what he was telling the lackey to do (use a non-touch screen monitor with a touchscreen interface software) or the lackey brainlessly following his instructions w/o thinking, 'Hey, this isn't going to work.' That kind of thing.

And telling me you're 'fine' tells me nothing! Do you like the area you're in? Is the job something you enjoy? Have you picked up any new hobbies lately? Been banned from any forums recently? I need details, man!!
